Gov. Palin remarks vs. Obama remarks

There were many noteworthy remarks by Gov. Palin in her speech to the RNC Wednesday night. One section of her speech stands out to me, especially when you contrast her remarks with Barack Obama’s remarks recently on the subject of pregnancy and his daughters.

Now Obama was referring to the sort of “what if” his daughter were to become pregnant. As we now all know, Gov. Palin’s 17 year old daughter is pregnant, unplanned of course. But here is what Obama, supported by many professing Christians, had to say:

“I’ve got two daughters, 9 years old and 6 years old. I’m going to teach them first of all about values and morals but if they make a mistake, I don’t want them punished with a baby. I don’t want them punished with an STD at the age of 16, you know.” (bold added)

“Punished with a baby.” Punished with a baby? What “value” or “moral” is that? Oh no! A baby. Kill it so as not to be “punished.”

Thankfully Gov. Palin and her husband are supporting their daughter and not planning to kill the “problem.”

But here is where she also shined in her remarks. Gov. Palin and her husband recently welcomed Trig into the world. Trig has Down’s Syndrome. Did you know that 85-90% of all Down’s Syndrome babies so detected in pre-natal testing are aborted? Their little lives are just snuffed out. The “problem” is eliminated. But here is what Gov. Palin had to say about Trig:

And in April, my husband Todd and I welcomed our littlest one into the world, a perfectly beautiful baby boy named Trig. From the inside, no family ever seems typical.

That’s how it is with us.

Our family has the same ups and downs as any other … the same challenges and the same joys.

Sometimes even the greatest joys bring challenge.

And children with special needs inspire a special love.

To the families of special-needs children all across this country, I have a message: For years, you sought to make America a more welcoming place for your sons and daughters. (bold added)

Such grace!

And some who name the name of Christ want to help put that man in the White House?
